Once school starts and that first hint of possible fall hits the air, DT-Photography gets busy. So busy. Scheduling fall family sessions, messaging/emailing, finding time on a calendar to fit people in for their session and planning for all the exciting Holiday sessions that will start (which they are in full swing now!) makes time get away from me and blogging to show off sessions rarely gets done. But there are some noteworthy sessions that need some attention! Babies, kids, maternity, families, they are there with a few sneak peeks but not like they should be! When I tell people I am a photographer, usually the first thing they ask “oh, like weddings?” It always throws me off guard because I haven’t done that many and to be honest…they have always intimidated me. Last year a friend asked me if one of her besties could use our property for her wedding and I take the photos. I agreed and loved every bit of the small gathering, outdoor wedding. I then photographed another wedding at their property on the lake in my community. This year, I was able to photograph another small wedding at my studio and it was perfection as well. When I say I have always been intimated to shoot a wedding…I really don’t know why. Maybe it was the fact that weddings should be perfect without any moments missed but I have found that it really is such an amazing event that I can capture for someone. I am excited to offer small weddings as part of my sessions now, whether they are at the DT-Photography studio or elsewhere. Every season I try to put out a post about what to wear for your family session. Trending colors, patterns, and solids that work for the season and for your family dynamic. Florals and solids in a variety of great spring colors. Teal and darker spring colors are in this season. Pair these colors with khakis or light colored jeans for the perfect spring feel. Patterns can be mixed to add great visual appeal and paired with solids always tie it all together. Mom and baby both have patterns but they are subtle enough and match perfectly.

Mint is an amazing color, it pairs so well with lighter colors as well as coral and even orange! Try some non traditional colors to add some much needed eye candy to your photos. Spring in North Carolina is so pretty and you’ll want to match it while also standing out.

At what age do you consider a baby a newborn? A few days, a week, a month…or even a year!?! Did you sing it too? I feel like in Newborn Photography babies are always in that 7-14 day range for their session. They are more bendy, meaning its easier to get them in those poses you see all the time. When Osmar’s mommy told me he was a year old, I automatically went in to the session prepared he wasn’t going to be able to get all the poses I wanted but let me tell you…this little boy was a rockstar for his session. I love the eye contact he gave me and ALL the smiles. He was so content and happy, now this might just be his personality and not all 1 month olds will love me this much but for now, I am just going to pretend like they do.
